Novel approach
What do mosquitoes keeping you awake at night and IPM have in common?
The answer is best seen below in the YT video from PATS, the indoor drone and pest control company based in the Netherlands.
The units use a combination of fixed location sensors and small palm sized drones that are the pest control.
The sensors detect and locate the problem, and the drone literally flies thru the pests.
The drones are small enough to contain any failures and prevent the obvious HR issues that a small drone might create in a wokplace.
This appears to be a great way to approach the issue of IPM, esp in regards moths.
9 different types of pests (Tomato looper (Chrysodeixis chalcites), European pepper moth (Duponchelia fovealis), Banana moth (Opogona sacchari), Tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta), Snout moth (Sufetula diminutalis), Diamondback moth (Plutella xylosetella), Cotton Bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera), Lyprauta and False codling moth (Thaumatotibia Leucotreta)) are currently being detected by the PATS C units and 4 different types of bugs (Tomato looper, European pepper moth, Banana moth and Tomato leafminer ) are being eliminated by the PATS X units.
